Can we give it a bit of a rest? It's like the geek side of the internet is leaking into my Retro Rides, but about 4 years after. I'm seeing it more and more often when really there isn't a great deal wrong with the post. Perhaps someone forgot to put a location in a for sale thread or whatever.
Maybe the opening post wasn't the best but not everyone is an internet supergeek, and won't really know the game on here.
Rather than just bumping the thread 10 times with IBTL LOLLOLOLOLOL (which adds nothing to the discussion, and will only further alienate the chap who posted it) why not either ignore it, or offer some friendly advice?
It'll make everyone's life easier. A hail of IBTLs will end up with a for sale thread locked or moved into purgatory, and the poster wont know what's gone on, the mods on here will have to shuffle the post back and forth and answer PMs from a confused poster who's not sure why their thread has disappeared.
If someone just said "It'd be a good idea to pop your location in the advert somewhere K THX" then the problem would be solved quite quickly and painlessly.

If its a missing location or has no price in the advert we have the 'report to mod' button for that. With regard to the IBTL, this is often used on threads which are obviously not car related, and whilst it can be a bit annoying, the OP should know that anything non car related will be met with cats (its in the modus operandi after all). Again, if you come across a thread thats not car related, you can click the 'report to mod' button, and the mods can decide what to do about it. Oh and for this thread, can I just give an IBTL and give you a cat

I am in full agreement with this post. I'd rather people just reported a post and then ignored it. In fact thats what we've explicitly asked people to do. Also the curse word people post in threads because they a) think they are funny or b) think they are being 'helpful', is usually neither of these things. Just report the post, or if it is something simple to fix (eg the missing location or price), just point that out, so we don't have to moderate your post as well as the original post. Thanks.

Ironically, the people who tend to add IBTL/cats to threads because they don't like them are inevitably the ones who don't report them.

To be honest, I never get why people post the cat pics - When someone does, I find myself trying to work out the thought process of the person that posts it and what made them think it would be even faintly amusing!
Maybe I'm just getting old.

Suppose the reason for the cats is that its in the Modus Operandi which was set out by HoTWire.

Kitten's in stupid topics always make me laugh, but IBTL replies really wind me up. If your going to bump the thread by posting in it, put something funny/cool in it & maybe explain why your posting pictures of cat's. Alot of people don't know what they are doing with the internet/computers and may just need a bit of guidance, but then some are just dumb - I make no excuse's for those lol. Lead by example, thats what I always say lol.

If you don't want to post up kittehs, just report the thread and be done with it.

Not saying reposts ARE bad, its the comments about the reposts that get me. Instead of saying something like "already been seen on here, but always nice to see again", people just say things like "repost" and leave it at that (or they say "repost" and include a Captain Picard 'facepalm' :

It stands for 'In Before The Lock' (the act of posting a reply before the thread gets closed)
