Hey,
I thought people on here would have a fairly good idea, how ever if this is the wrong section sorry in advance.
The sad day has come where my Toyota must be scrapped. The local scrappys seem to be offering around £50 for a large car, I realise they are probably making a 100%+ profit but I have no way of getting my car to the metal merchants.
To maximise my income from the car I have removed the cat and plan to weigh this in at my local in the morning.
How can I tell if my cat is a full or a half? I don't really want to get there and be told that I have a half cat when i clearly do not.
The converter is from a 2.0 Toyota MR2 and is a fair size so I would assume it is a full one?
Any help or advice would be lovely!

Can't answer the question about the cat but have you tried www.cartakeback.com ? I needed a Corsa scrapping before Xmas, rang around the local scrappys and got quotes ranging from £25-£80, found that site whilst googling, rang them up to arrange collection and got £165 for it, no hassle, man came round, picked it up, handed over the money and it was all sorted. They weren't bothered if there was bits taken off or if it was running, it just had to have wheels on it and inflated tyres.

Thanks a lot for that!
My highest offer has been £200 but the car does not have any front shocks or a interior so I am a little cautious to accept their offer on the basis of my car not being complete.
I'll have to drop them a call in the morning.
Thanks a lot!

if its got a thick wiring loom take a hacksaw to it, i always cut what ever wiring i can get to easily and it usually weighs in for a decent price, and I'm never short of high quality wire either.

Most will charge you for wheels+tyres, so if they've still got a road-legal amount of tread left on the tyres, you can usually get about £20 for a set. Got a set for my Rover off fleabay, by a bloke who did just this! as for the "full" or "half" CAT, that's easy enough. If the CAT material fills the whole of the CAT, from end to end, it's a full one. If it's only taking up about the centre 1/3 of the CAT, with lots of open space either end, it's a half. most petrol cars only tend to have "Half" CATs, whilst dervs tend to have "full" cats. It's worth sticking the engine+gearbox up for sale too, as they'll usually see a good £100. What model is it anyway? Never know, you might be able to break it for bits on here, and make more than scrap value, just from the parts

if were pushing for maximum value a tank full of water adds another few kilos. Also smash the windows and the sunroof, if they ask blame kids and leave it out in the rain. Suprising how much water weighs...
