just got my renewal letter for the 1303 at not bad price. I got a classic policy last year but that means I get no cash back if I cancel. I may get rid of the car later this year so anybody got recommendations of decent companies to use ? I've been toying with the idea of just getting a cheap runabout for a few months then changing again but the companies I tried weren't impressed with short term policies. Any suggestions?

I use tesco insurance ( www.tesco.com ) there backed up by UK Insurance Ltd. I have a low excess, courtesy car for life of repairs etc, business usage cover and its generally a good £200 cheaper than everyone else. Plus you get a further 5% off for online application !. Oh and they pro-rata the premium, so you can cancel later in the policy if required.

Try Hyperfomance insurance they have always given me good quotes. On my Golf GTI they were 50% cheaper then Adrian Flux!

Just tried tesco but my 1303 is too old (pre 1980) so I couldn't get a quote. Anybody got a multi-vehicle policy ? Not sure if these are still offered, I used to have one for scooters/bikes many years ago.

KpMrJ.... just so that you know the TRC (tempory replacement car) from tesco aint for life of reps... 14 days max... unless its not your fault and then the other insurer should be paying for it anyway.. i know of people that have had a car in for reps - they dismantle the car, then find they need to order a part from the factory.. 3 months no car ! ...true...

I was paying nearly £2k under my parents name in my first year, but I did have the quickest car in the college car park. ;D

Just tried tesco but my 1303 is too old (pre 1980) so I couldn't get a quote. I had no problems insuring my '72 fasty with tescos... except that adrian flux were cheaper.
