Need to get the bumpers from the rover p4 re chromed as the bumper has corroded and damaged the chrome.
Anyone got any good places to recommend? Preferably in the south/south west.
Thanks!

My 'go to' place in the SouthWest is Avon Electroplating in Weston-Super-Mare, but due to changes in legislation he is no longer able to chrome things in the classic bright finish. He can still do chrome plating but it's ever so slightly more smokey/slightly darker. This isn't noticeable most of the time, but if it's going on a car with lots of other original chrome, it might highlight the slight difference? If you ring them and speak to Martin (the boss) he's very helpful and very up front about the differences in chrome (original 'classic car chrome' uses mega nasty chemicals that only a few people are now allowed to use) and will be able to talk you through everything they do. I can't recommend them highly enough and will actually be speaking to him myself this morning about something for myself. I've used them many times over the past 12 years and always go back to them. www.avonelectroplating.co.uk/?utm_campaign=applegate.co.uk&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=applegate.co.ukThe other place which I've been to that does do the original classic plating (which will always be more expensive unfortunately) is Doug Taylor who is just outside Weston-Super-Mare. Again, very approachable but I've not actually had any work done by them due to always using Martin at Avon Electro myself. www.dougtaylor.co.uk/Hope that is of some help?

I've been recommended Derby Platers on a number of occasions although have never used them myself.

with p4's being classic banger fodder, maybe it'd be worth a wanted ad over on ovalbangerchat?

I've used S & T near Bath in the past. They did do the bright chrome last time I used them and they have someone there that can lead dents before plating if you need that. They were fairly reasonable too. www.chromebysandt.com/

Update on Avon Electro...
I spoke to them the other day and unfortunately Martin (the owner) is currently in hospital and won't be back to work for a while. They are still open for business, but I for one always prefer to deal directly with Martin because he's A) the boss and always gives me a good price and B) because I've only ever dealt with him myself...the other employees are brilliant with the plating, but not so hot on the 'dealing with the customers' (mainly because Martin does 99% of that side of things)
I hope he recovers soon because he's a top bloke and also because I want to do an article on them for a magazine feature. Fingers crossed he makes a speedy recovery.

I'm pretty sure it was them who nickel plated all the bare metal parts on the radical at college last year, they seemed nice to deal with, and the turnaround was quick. I wasn't 100% impressed with the plating, but I think it was more down to the type of plating we chose and not the quality of the work, it was the tyre they'd normally use on bolts, which is fine for keeping the rust off, but looks uneven on bigger parts like wishbones.

Been a while but South Western Plastics in Bristol were doing bright/smoky/colored finishes for a while- we used to bring them stuff to be powder coated too
The Old Jail/Willway St Bristol BS3 4BG, United Kingdom 0117 953 1811
Give them a call, they are a gruff lot but the stuff they do is pretty good
