I got web skillz coming out of my ears, I can wield a spanner if I have a manual, can weld...reasonably, rather enjoy writing and am currently looking for employment... ...But there's no way on this planet I'd relocate to peat bog horror It could be a pretty good job though if the pay's allright. Hope you find the right man (or woman) for the job. *n

Afganistan?
Oh, and I'm fairly sure Fr_Bo11ox would be a bit bemused and irritated if Penski turned up there with a basket of dirty brogs to wash.....

If you're worried about where you'll be living you really shouldn't be considering the job... It's far more than that. I did nine months with emap living in Peterborough, and just outside it too. There are some brutally cool vistas out on the fens, Northampton is a forty minute commute and you've got soo many other areas to choose from. Come the weekend, London is 80 miles away. Working for a car magazine gave me some of the best memories I have, tinged with tiredness, low pay and a loathing of authority... Which is why I went freelance. But as a job you could do a whole lot worse, especially considering this role pays you to work on old motors. If you feel so inclined, I'd say go for it. Writing comes naturally to everybody, some people just don't know it. Emap was (and still is as far as I know) a good company to work for, training wise etc Good luck finding somebody.

Oh, I`d love a job with Craptical Plastics (no, really I would) and could knock up a half decent article if say so myself but mechanically I`m about on par with a lobotomised pigeon that`s been nailed to the floor. Still, think of the extra features you could do every month when someone has to repair my `handywork`?

If I wasn't 100 miles away I'd really be interested in this, having been lumbered with the Marina Owners Club magazine twice and a railway preservation magazine for five years - also spannering Marinas, Itals, Minis and various other strange things is good practise.....Bugrit!

Poop, this has come about a year too early. I'd be well up for it if I didn't have the final year of my graphic design degree to get out of the way first

Enough of the Peterborough knocking perleese... Having lived there and listened to every man and his dog trot out the same old cliches about the place it's getting boring. Especially considering somebody on here could potentially start a career in journalism through this thread... A great opportunity. Everybody tells me how lucky I am to do the job I do, well it pretty much took off in Peterborough working for these people. The editor saw fit to bring it to our attention. He works there, remember? Now Wrexham, there's a hole that needs condemning. Lived there too... Oooh

I used to live in P'boro and never got murdered/bummed/imprisoned/shot in all the time I was there so it can't be that bad, some good motor factors and scrapyards too as I recall. 'Millfield Autoparts' is a legendary car parts shop, 'water pump for a Talbot Alpine? Yes sir we've got one in stock, £14.25' etc etc.

Now Wrexham, there's a hole that needs condemning. Oooh Hear, hear:) I can`t slag Peterborough off as I don`t know anything about the place and it was a very decent offer of a job for someone. It`s shame there`s no job share available, one decent local mechanic and someone `wordy` who could write up decent articles. I`ll volunteer for the latter!
