Hello all. I will start a build thread for my new purchase. Its a BMW e12 528i Auto. I bought it last week after alot of searching for a good, non rusty e12. There are plenty of things needing fixing on the car, so the car will be SORN until the summer. I'm a BMW tech at Birds so I'll try to get the car back to good order aswell as do some tasteful mods. Anyway some pics... I also have a set of BMW style5 alloys that I had refurbished last year, so it should look like this very soon (photoshop pic below)... Work starts tomorrow!!!

What other plans have you got in mind? A subtle suspension drop maybe? I think we met when I brought my orange e21 across to Birds? Mind you, its changed a bit since then.

^^^ That's an e28, not an e12. They look similar though. Is that Pfeba spoiler off an e28, or did they also make them for the e12? Should look excellent on the splitties!

Mind you, its changed a bit since then. Yes thats right. Your name is Mark??? I loved that e21. Its the only one thats been at Birds. Do you still have it? I think the front spoiler might be from an e28, not sure. Todays work involved : Coolant flush and change. Had to unblock some of the smaller hoses and change some pipes and jubilee clips. New thermostat. Had to drill out one bolt which was missing from the housing. Engine oil and filter change. Nice clean 10w40. Check of susp and bushes, etc. Front shocks sticking/noisy. Check the camshaft for wear, all ok. Check tappets, ok. Front brakes slightly seized on. Caliper repair kit on order from BMW. Will need a fuel tank! BMW want £375!!! Looking for options... Small rust patch in floor getting repaired by local bodyshop next week. Looking at suspension options as it will need lowering and the front shocks are knackered. RPM do a nice kit for it! That'll do for today!!! She's running alot better now.

I do, yes. It's now running an M52/2.8 with 220 brake though and an e12 LSD conversion. Tony BMW on here is your man for all things e12 related. He might be able to help out with fuel tanks? www.tonybmw.co.uk/

I think the front spoiler might be from an e28, not sure. I've seen quite a few on e28s, but never an e12 before. Will need a fuel tank! BMW want £375!!! Looking for options... e12s, e24s and e28s use the same fuel tank if that helps?

Did some more work on the 5 today. Mostly interior stuff. LHR window wasn't working, so removed door card to find the regulator was seized and had snapped a pivit point from the reg. So welded the reg and unseized the arm. All ok now! BMW wanted £116+VAT for the reg but atleast its still avalible! RHR window was very slow to move. So removed door card and greased the guides, all ok now. Central door locking is inop because the LHR motor is missing! Elec aerial for radio isn't working/jammed so need a new one. Boot is now locking as it should. The circlip had come out from the barrel, so refitted that. New number plates fitted but might get some older style plates later. Secured the battery. The post had snapped so replaced it. Good as new! Got another key cut in the week as I hate having only one key. Got the tyres on order for the Stlye5's. Should be here next week. One interior pic...

BMW wanted £116+VAT for the reg but atleast its still avalible! It's amazing what's still available from BMW, mines nearly 40 years old but they still seem to have most parts available. - Not that i can afford much. I don't think i've seen or heard of anyone with an e12 for at least 10 years or so. Love the car and looking forward to updates.
