What do we know about little fiats? Spiders, Coupes, Saloons, people carriers?
How easy is it to get hold of spares?
How easy are they to tune?
Pics would be great.........Ta!

I've a 71 saloon, about 40 bhp, does about 55mpg, mechanically service items ok to get, no oil filter just a sediment bowl I clean out once a year. drum brakes all round, same drums as fiat uno and I've fitted cinquecento cylinders. DOESN'T LIKE crosswinds, bag of coal in the front for winter ;D 850 specials have coupe running gear and disc brakes
I had a spider, they were built by Bertone, same mechanics as a 850 coupe about 50 bhp, some parts crazy expensive... same lights as a Lamborghini Miura.
850 coupes are beautiful little cars, friend of mine has one to restore, disc brakes on these and twin choke weber carb and 4 branch manifold.
Abarth put Fiat twin cams into them in the 60's
Theres a guy called Rory Cole on the Fiat UK club forum who knows all about tuning them, think he has one for production trials.
The engine runs the 'wrong way' compared to other Fiats, ie anti-clockwise, is that the same as a Honda VTEC??

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

Can the 127 engine be made to fit the 850? What other engine options are there? Abarth A112? The reason I ask is that I've nearly bought this

Great little camper, the gearing on those is lower than a saloon, the 127 903/ A112 Abarth 1050cc engine will fit, water pump is different though, and they can be converted to run the other way, that chap Rory Cole recently sold a A112 1050 engine and he said he could convert it, get onto the Fiatmotorclubgb forum and get in touch with him. pub41.bravenet.com/forum/show.php?usernum=3446348668

If you ever get the chance, check out "car And Driver" magazines from the early '70s ,they had piles of Ads .photos etc etc of the spiders and Accessories to fit them.BUT..... there was at least one company in the USA selling a conversion to fit the twin cam engine, with reversed cams, in the spider...
