Right, I have a Clifford G4 alarm on my Mk2 GTI. It works, the fob is a bit battered and I have the instructions and original receipt when it was fitted. I don't want it on the car anymore, simple as that, no other reason. I have a Disklok and that's enough for me.
Here's the deal, if there's someone out there who knows how to remove it, they can remove it and keep it. I've been told it's simple but I just don't have the confidence to remove it myself.
My thinking is that it will be of use to someone as they are quite expensive. If I pay to get it removed, it'll probably cost me a bomb and the alarm will be binned. Anyone interested?

They're easy to remove but it'll take triple the time finding out which wires are which and labelling them properly. Easiest way would probably be to use a Golf wiring diagram to and label each wire going into the alarm unit.

Where would alarm unit usually be? I really want it gone, it works, I just don't trust aftermarket alarms, no matter how expensive and noisy they are

It'll be under the dash somewhere, you're supposed to fit them so that you have to remove at least one piece of trim to get to the box.

I'm assuming I'll be able to spot it as soon as I see it? There's a small black box behind the dash on the passenger side, it says Clifford on it. I'm assuming this is the receiver for the fob? It only has a couple of wire going to it?

I removed a Clifford G4 fairly easily although it did take the best part of about 2 hours.
I removed it from a car i was breaking for spares so many things were pulled out with no care for their condition, if you was to remove the alarm whilst taking care of the interior (which you will want) it will take a lot longer.
That said I have a spare key fob for a G4 if the remover of the alarm wants another!
Great alarm and i would love another, you are just a bit to far away sadly!

2 main ways of going about it ... PM sent with basics Before doing anything else you need to find the main alarm unit (expect a black box with about 6 un-labled black wires coming out if it) I think the bit you have found so far is just a receiver or add-on box, it's part of the alarm but not the main part. Have fun, it's not difficult to do if you have time & patience.
