Good Afternoon - my newly single 50 year old neighbour has set her heart on a blue SportKa and has just popped round to ask me how much she would need to spend on one with circa 60k miles. My top of the head guess was £1500 - £2,250 (she's got £2000 to spend all in) and I was wondering a couple of things ; 1) was I anywhere near price-wise ? 2) should she really be looking for a Puma ? 3) Is there a preferred owners forum link anyone has ? cheers How I wish I'd never been persuaded to sell this .....

Searching a few closed auctions on ebay or a quick look in auto trader will tell you all you need to know IBTL Exactly. I would say £2.5k would get something they require in half decent condition. Great cars to drive but as with any Ka look out for rust on the sills, B post and petrol filler cap.

On paper, the SportKa and the Puma are quite similar but the Puma is just better. They don't really rust much less and they're not any roomier inside and probably have a smaller boot but anyone looking for a Ka should already be prepared for a compact, slightly rusted car that's good fun to drive.
Pumas look cheap enough that your neighbour's budget could probably get a decent 1.7 and a 1.6 as a spare...

Had a few come into work with worn steering column UJ's, and you have to change the whole column and isn't a cheap repair

I looked last year at a SportKA that was advertised for 1350 pounds, mind you no MOT and Tax. It needed a set of tires and it had rust on the rear wings and tank filler cap, was a 2003 year car!
The SE has airco and full leather trim, so these are a little bit more desirable.
I suspect (hope) that the StreetKA has a better rust protection, because Pinifarina did build the cabriolets.

Streetka's are every bit as bad for rust as the normal ka's.

I would still say the SportKa is a slightly more fun package in the handling stakes (I remember my Ford Ka with Ford Racing bits put a larger smile on my face than a friend's 1.7 Puma (as did his similarly equipped Ka oddly enough), but the Puma makes more sense (more powerful, roomier, frugal and cheaper to tax being the main items). But anything based on the Mk3 Fiesta platform (which the Ka and Puma were) seem to rust like Alfasuds from many moons ago!
