Today I did a bit of triangulation welding and tried to put the engine in. Triangulation; After looking at these pictures, what I've put on seems a bit wimpish, but I'm not altering it. EngineThe first thing I learnt was that I'd put the engine mounts on the wrong way around, the second was that sump was to big and fouled the steering rack, and the third was that the oil pickup did the same. This is the engine sort of in, with the mounts on the right way around, and the sump and strainer removed; The forth thing I learnt never buy anything off ebay, and all Welshmen are scum. This is my sump gasket, made of silicone and an earth wire. I take it the sbf are suppose to have a proper rubber gasket? The fifth thing I learnt was that the crank pulley is very close to / fouls the front crossmember. Is this normal Norm, or do I need to do some cutting? The oil pump minus strainer; Other engine underside picks; aaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Norm took a break from the forum to give other things his full attention for the year. I can't help with your problem, but good luck!

You could try emailing Norm. Blitz at teamblitz dot com as I recall.
Or wait for nightmares to pop up as mark knows his Ford small block stuff.

I think Blitz is found on autoshite these days?
You might also want to edit your post to avoid negatively branding the entire male population of a country based on one ebay transaction.

Those triangulation plates look more akin to the little plates used to hold relays... and the welds don't seem to have gotten enough penetration to even be strong enough for that. Bit more heat needed I think.
cut the front crossmember to a lower height, and fill in the gaps with steel plate of the same thickness (again, only when you're getting decent penetration)
Cut down the sump, to clear the engine crossmember, whilst still having a deepenough bowl to hold the pump. TIG welding would be better than MIG for this job, just to save the hassle of chasing pinholes in the welds, that will only be obvious when the oil's hot. Tack it up with your MIG, and take it to a welders to finish-weld if you don't have a TIG (lets be honest, how many of us have one??)
Not exactly "massive" problems tbh, just a bit frustrating
