As a couple of you will know I have bought a car from Londonderry. Its currently in the hands of SurprisingSkoda, but I now need to sort out how to bring it over to Newcastle upon Tyne. The car runs and drives, but the brake overheat after a while, and its got no mot, so driving it back looks unlikely without the cops stopping me every couple of miles. Any useful ideas appreciated, and even if I have to push the car, it WILL be brought over here

I`m happy to collect it for you on my truck mate. Last time I did an Ireland job, it was £450, but that was driving it, not with the truck. I`m happy to price it up for you, just let me know. Cheers, Rob

Cheers, Rob It's not Ireland, it's Northern Ireland. Price it up by all means, BT71 6JH to middle of Newcastle, but that sounds awfully steep, considering the prices I've paid to have cars brought from the darkest recesses of southern england to here...

Have you seen the return ferry prices from Belfast ? £192 each way for van and trailer or £142 for van/transporter + 270 miles from NI to the toon + pies! I didnt think the ferry was that much!!

Yep, ferries not cheap from either Stranraer or Birkenhead. Plus it's 8+ hours each way. delivering a car from Ireland/ Northern Ireland is nothing like one from the mainland I'm afraid.

Make a holiday of it? Have a few days there, sort it out and have a slow saunter back. You've only got to make it over the sea really. You can always get recovered once you're back in England.
