Hi, for sale is a very tidy Metro Clubman L with only 53,000 miles on the clock. Dare I say it - I originally bought unseen on the strength of the engine on it's own. Having given it a good look over I discovered it was far too good to break up so I've spent a lot of time putting it back on the road.
It was garaged in 2008 after the gearbox packed up. I've had the engine out, replaced the 'box with an identical second hand unit and reassembled it all with new gaskets, half-moon seal, crank seal, diff seals and gear linkage seal. I cleaned out the carb, replaced the water pump and antifreeze and overhauled the brakes replacing the fluid and (4) front flexis. Various other odds and end were done including a suspension pump up (was looking a bit low after storage) and I also had the tracking done. The tyres are metric and after a bit of searching,4 either very good/new ones are fitted to the car. I've hand polished and waxed the whole car and it really does look good.
The hand books and some history are present including a bill of sale from a main dealer when one of it's previous owners bought it second hand. oddly the V5 has several owners on it so for some reason despite the low mileage it has changed hands in quick succession. That said the mileage has to be genuine - the inside of the engine was absolutely spotless and the body is pretty much original apart from a couple of localised repairs to the corners of the front footwells. Front valence is excellent and the rear arches too - all spot welds visible. Amazing really!
Other bits you should know. It's had a little paint on the driver's door and lower front wing at some point (it's possible it's had a door on it but can't be sure). The paint is slightly different in colour but everything still looks good. There are some shallow dents to the roof/bonnet (being picky) which a magic dent man could improve and a few other parking dings etc commensurate with age. The interior is nice and had had the seats upgraded with those from a Rover car I think. Personally I'd prefer the originals but the red piping does go well with the red paint. The wheels could probably do with balancing.
Anyway if anyone is interested, viewing is recommended. I'm in the Peterborough area. It's got 12months MOT and half a tank of petrol. I can tax it at cost. Looking for £795. Hopefully if i've got it right, pictures below!
