Do the polishing yourself will make it a lot cheaper, most of the cost of plating is for the prep.

bolts are already polished up ready but don't know of a plater who isnt gonna screw me. all the car wheel refurbers know what I'm doing and add "scene tax" on. got 1 quote and i hope it was for new bolts to coz it was £180 ooocuhy

The price of gold has doubled in the last three years, having already tripled in the seven years or so before that....

Divide the £180 quote by the 80 bolts to get a cost each making it £2.25 each. To me that doesn't seem to bad taking into account the labour involved and current high cost of gold. You have picked one of the dearest types of plating and it's never going to be cheap. Have you considered alternatives like gold anodized titanium bolts ? Paul H

I'd LOVE to see some galvanised bolts fitted to a mirror polished rim.
....and I'm not joking either!

hear what your saying but £180 is way out. i have rebuilt loads of bbs wheels and used chrome, gold and polished and have never paid £180
anyway back to the matter at hand, i have just recived a quote from a plating company and they quoted £65 with the return carrage. and a quote from a BBs wheel refurber and they quoted £90, (he quoted for 18k gold to )

Do you sell your gold BBS wheels without any of the scene tax you seem unwilling to pay yourself?

It's all down to personal taste. For me I couldn't care less what wheels a car has as long as decent tyres. In fact I prefer simple steels to fancy alloys any day. Paul H

180 does seem steep! But the others seem like a good price.
I need some gold plating done. Who you gonna use??
