I know I shouldn't think cos I'm not very good at it but...... I'm thinking about TB's and I know that means i have to leave behind my comfort zone of motronic 1.5 and look at megasquirt or emerald or similar. I was thinking half way house and this is definately half way house TB's but with a sealed plenum chamber and a single butterfly meaning I can keep the AFM/hot wire plans. BTW it was done for a turbocharged application and I'm not going that route so looking to optimise for NA I can get the fabrication done etc etc nice and cheap but do any of you knowledgable RR'rs have any comments on the design or application........ My thoughts were the plenum is too small and so is the butterfly but I'm throwing it open

So a single throttle body then? What's been shown is just the same as a single large TB plonked on the inlet of a plenum chamber.... Go for Bike TBs. Two sets of triple bodies from a Triumph Daytona 955i should be good for over 300bhp. *n

I can't afford to change the engine management system yet but I do want to junk the dual ram and get the induction tract cleaned up. I was thinking gate throttle and a nice big plenum till I saw the above pics Keep it simple and gradual change not revolution (might cost a bit more in the long term but at least it's still a daily driver)

Ahhh... Personally, I would just buy the bits as and when I could afford them then get them all sorted at once. Emerald and bike TBs. I'd also buy a £30-50 snotter to drive for the few weeks it's being sorted then weigh it in/flog it on. It would take a bit longer, yes...but you'd end up with a better end product Emerald are based in Watton aren't they? *n

Yeah was looking at that till I saw the pics posted above I'd also buy a £30-50 snotter to drive for the few weeks it's being sorted then weigh it in/flog it on. Got a Polo for that but it's hers and it sucks a bit performace wise It would take a bit longer, yes...but you'd end up with a better end product Thats a fact Emerald are based in Watton aren't they? If I was you I think I would keep your monza as is for teh time being until your commodore, senator and Lotus carlton were complete ;D Then I would see about fitting throttle bodies and fully mapped ecu, ditching all of your existing set up. Anything else you did would be a compromise and probably wont net you much of a gain over what you have now. Incidentally have you ever heard of anyone fitting a throttle body from a BMW 635 to a 12V monza. I was reading somewhere about possible power gains to be made from doing this (5mm bigger) and same injection system. Considering doing this (as I have a 635 sat there doing nothing at teh minute) but didnt know if it was just pub talk

Nope, but you just don't run them fast I am running 10.5:1 C/R on mine with 9.5psi Boost ;D A mate runs a 24v Cossie V6 with an Eaton M90......295ft/lbs at 1800rpm ;D

idea. adapt bmw e36 m3 throttle bodies and the plenum that they use, which will give you individual throttle bodies and an air mass/flow meter driven managment system, thus allowing you to keep the stock managment. its obviously restricted compared to TB's without a plenum, but its a cheaper option. seventynine on here can get motronic ecu's remapped IIRC its just an idea tho, you don't have to like it
