I've moved to somerset and currently emptying my lockup in Newcastle. I have storage at home down here now and I have no immediate use for the lockup. Rather than pay each month to see it empty, I though I'd advertise it for rent. Long or short term storage, I don't mind. As mentioned I have no immediate use for it but don't want to let it go as I may need it again in a few years.
Available March/April time. Could be sooner, just depends how soon I can get a chance to empty it or how keen you are for it. I've removed all my fiesta stuff but me and two friends have left loads of rubbish for the tip in it, old furniture, curse word interiors, worn tyres etc so I was waiting until next time I have a weekend free to clear it out properly. I need to sort out a small leak in the roof too.
Details:
Single (deep) council like garage - I will get the exact dimensions if required.
Located In Newcastle Upon Tyne. Near the B&Q along side the A1/A69
No power.
Lockup also has a painted bay in front of it that is included. You could leave a car there, technically untaxed as it's off the road, but you might get residents complaining. It's a grey area regarding that. Regardless though, it means you have parking when using the lockup and loads of parking directly outside it for extra cars.
Security - mid garage in a block. Only 1 up and over door for access. Has extra locks fitted. Realistically, I had my car in there 5-6 years including loads of parts. About 4 years ago the garage was broken into (once). The car looked like a fully working example from the back and there was no extra locks fitted to the garage door at the time so someone tried their luck. They opened the door and saw a half stripped car and took nothing. It's in a residential area opposite houses so always people about to keep an eye on it which is good, but a pathway through the street which means more foot traffic. It's a safe enough area but you cant garauntee 100% security anywhere. Feel free to add more though. Since having the extra locks fitted i've had no trouble. TBH even in a safe area, I'd be making sure I wasn't leaving expensive tools etc lying about for people to see if I happen to be outside. Just use common sense. Not had any trouble since adding those extra locks at the bottom.
An idea of storage size:
Would like £50 a month. It saves leaving it empty and saves you being put on a waiting list for one from the council. Even if you want it for short term storage then thats fine, we can work something out.
If no one is interested then I'll advertise elsewhere. Just a shame to see it empty when I know some of you guys are keen for storage. Too expensive compared to others you've seen? I've looked about and seen wildly varying prices. PM me to discuss further.
Thanks.
