Hi Guys
My name is Dennis, and I live in Denmark.
I was a little active on here some years ago, that was when I had my old car. A Mohr Rush, which basically is a german built Dax Rush. I grew a bit tired of the car, because it was very unpractical, and saw very little use, so I sold it for about a year ago. But heres a couple of pictures of it anyways.
After I sold the Rush, I started looking for a car, that i've always lusted after. Something only a tiny bit more practical, a Lotus Europa S2 (its got a roof after all).
This is a 1970, and being an S2, it is equipped with an all alloy Renault engine.
I fell in love with this particular car, mostly because of its engine. Because this car have been upgraded with a Renault 1600 block with a crossflow head, mounted with twin 45 webers. The capacity have been increased to 1750 ccm. It was built by a well known Swedish Renault Alpine Expert. It is basically the same engine as in an Renault Alpine A110 1600S.
Though when I started driving the car, it quickly became obvious, that the gearbox was shot. I have to mention I bought the car during winter, and only took it for a very limited testdrive. But anyways, I decided to do a gearbox swap, for a 5 speed Renault transaxle. Of all things, the gearbox came from a Renault Espace, but the ratios were good. Another plus it that this box should be able to take atleast 250hp.
But all this meant that I only had a very limited driving season last year, only about 6-700 km. So iam really looking forward to spring.
Apart form the gearbox, I also fitted twin link rear suspension from Banks. The wheels were also swapped for minilites fitted with R888's. Further more I refreshed the interior with new door panels and a new centre console.
But this is enough talking for now, here are some pics.
When I bought it:
This is how it looks now:
This is the engine:
New gearbox:
This summer I picked up another car, that I allways have found interesting. A Mini Marcos. This is very much a project. The plan is to turn it into a FIA racecar, which also can be driven on the road, so that it can be used for hill climbs. Heres a few pics from when I brought it home (it has come a bit further since, I can upload a buildthread if you like).
The car is a 1967 mk.2 and is one out of 50 chassisnumbers, which were homologated for group 4 racing, back in the day. This makes eligeble for FIA historic racing today. And since these cars actually raced at Le Mans in 1966 and 1967, it is also eligible for Le Mans classic. This is of course if I ever finish it. Also doubt I would be able to afford the entry fee.
Hope you like them. Would love to hear both good and bad comments.
