hi, I'm after fitting live axles to my niva and have a couple of options for axles, basically discovery or jeep cherokee? which would you suggest?

I seem to remnember there were 2 types of axle fitted to the cherokee, dana? the smalelr one was rather weak, i know i had one in with diff and wheel bearing problems and when i looked into it i was told it had the weaker axle fitted and it was a usuall problem ?

yeah, some have the danas fitted, but mine arent danas (bludy wish they were!!!) ther might be 3 then, as theres 2 different types of steering asslembly, cv and uj type, and mine are cv type so better than the uj type

Also remember the diff offset is different - AFAIK bias to nearside on Jeep and offside on Disco. My CJ5 had centre rear diff (can't think what was on front)
Don't forget Fourtrak and HiLux axles.

fourtak and hilux are too expensive. discovery have the diff on the drivers so would need to modify it so would have to flip the casing over on the front and the rear jeep is leaf springs, so would have to convert to springs. modifying is not a problem at all as I'm a fabricator anyway
