i have been restoring a 1989 mazda 323 turbo 1.6, its in for a mot next week, to day i took it for a test run and it was very rough and jerking, got home and found that if i put my foot down on the acceleration pedal it will rev as it should but if i try to build the revs up slowly it will get 2500 rev and drop back down and rev back 2500 and down again without coming of the pedal, i changed the throttle body and afm and it was perfect for 8 miles and than the problems came again, i changed the throtle body and afm againg and it was good for 12 miles and then back to the problem again.
can someone shed some light on what could be wrong

hi mate, when i had my 323 turbo, i had this exact same problem. I took the air flow meter apart and it was the soldered connections inside had come apart. Once re soldered it worked fine, but a few months down the line the same thing happened...i don't know if its a common thing?

i have had 5 of these (2 pre facelift and 3 facelift) and its the first time i have come across this, i have changed air flew meter and throttle body quite a few times but the problem keeps on coming back, i will take one airflow meter apart and see if the connections are good
did you ever solve your problem?
