Currently getting my old discovery ready for sale (bought a new one ) and as the handling had suffered as a result of my last off road excursion I decided to invest in these. £49 for a full set of polyurethane bushes (Actually £70 delivered including a new steering damper, gotta love parts prices for landies) I took the disco off the road 2 weeks ago as I knew the radius arm bushes were shot and steering was vague to say the least, just been waiting for the new ones to arrive. So tonight I made a start on them. Bush looking a bit poorly Hack saw and a chisel helped persuade the old ones to come out. And a bit of fairy liquid helped the new ones in. I have always liked poly bushes, they are so much easier to fit than standard ones and make a hell of a difference to the handling. The vehicle in question Apologies for this being a bit OT and not strictly retro (although it is 17), if any mods arent happy please feel free to delete it (I wont take offence)

Wow I remember when i was a st00dent working at the place making those bushes, at they time they were developing the ones for the TD5 discovery too; lots of problems with push-out load being too small! No such issues there I see!

No complaints from me. Nout wrong with a bit of hands-on old car action! I've not really paid much attention before, but are the three door variants rare?
As an aside, a friend of mine is a LR/RR expert by trade (and an air-cooled VW nut in his spare time!) and has built quite a few 'specials' including a Range Rover front/Discovery rear hybrid that caused a few double-takes!

In a wierd coincidence it was a one owner vehicle and tehy used to own Tan Hill pub (which was were the pics of my old disco where took) No complaints from me. As far as I the majority of early discos were 3 doors (if not all of the first few months production) , as land rover were expecting the majority of buyers to be famers who wanted a bit more comfort than a defender, but to be a bit more utilitarian than what the range rover had become. But it was still possible to get 3 door late 300 TDi`s, just not so common.

They are Britpart bushes (One of the biggest land rover parts makers/suppliers in UK) but whether they make them their selves or buy them in I don't know. I have had Deflex bushes on my MK1 escort for years without any problem. Possibly more mould marks than superflex but really not much in it.

miss mine Ahh but there's a cool dark green one that's NOT for sale, isn't there? ;D I like them I love the sticker/stripe kit the early ones came with, but if I bought one with them on I'd be blasting them off at the first jetwash I could find ;D

When I first read the title of this thread I thought it was going to be an off topic critique of a new Satellite TV Nature channel (or fat hairy Pron, hadn't decided).

Totally retro in my opinion. Long fancied one myself, drove one around Western Australia a few years ago and loved it. 8psi in the road tyres and it was great on fine sand. That replacement you've bought seems very cheap too, either that or I just really want one. Cheap parts too, ooh, must make a cup of tea... Walk away...

Jiminey! are all Disco's now that cheap!! No, I just don't like paying a lot of money for my cars ;D I paid £800 for for G reg in December and after all the work I have done on it and the wheels and tyres it probably stands me at £1100 and I should get that money back when I sell it. Which isnt bad nearly 10,000 mile in a Discovery for zero running costs. My new one should have been around twice the price I paid for it, fair enough the bodyworks not the best, but one owner, full service history, full MOT and then 6 months tax as well. There are people asking more than that for K reg ones. The bloke I bought it off puts all his cheaper part ex`s on ebay (only sells mint condition 4x4`s from their showrooms) and it seems to put a lot of people off particular when he says there is no warranty given. I know he sold an N reg Pajero for £1500 the week before and it looked immaculate . It does need a few small jobs doing to it to sort it out, but its a land rover so you have to expect that ;D
