If its tidy, then its got to be worth that. Registration even without import papers is possible. I checked all of this out with the DVLA and HM Customs & Excise.

registration is easy. You just give the Peugeot museum the vin no and they issue a certificate of age for the car and the dvla cough up an age related plate. Which you could probably then sell on for the price of the car!

registration is easy. You just give the Peugeot museum the vin no and they issue a certificate of age for the car and the dvla cough up an age related plate. Which you could probably then sell on for the price of the car! Aren't non-age-related issues all done as non-transferable now? As an import you need to get a statement from HM Customs & Excise that all relevant import duty and VAT was paid at time of import. If the current owner doesn't have this you will simply have to pay VAT on the purchase price of the car (as HM Customs don;t seem to keep records, or if they do they can't search them). So chappo gives you a reciept for £100. You pay £17.50 VAT to HM Customs, they give you a clearance form, you go to the DVLA with proof of the age of the car (I thought this had to come from a registered approved club in the UK?) and then they will register it for like £60. You will need and MOT and insurance first.

I think £1200 sounds a good price for a mint-sounding car like that! He's offered it up for sale first before racing it, and if there are no takers he's left with the choice of either letting it sit in a field rusting away or doing what he likes to do with old cars - smash it up. I think he's being reasonable personally. I also think he'd take a grand for it, which is good money for something like that - I've never seen one before!

I know where that candy red low rider one is. It was in primer last time I saw it. Been off the road some years but the juice was all rebuilt a while back. Was a very cool car in its day that was. Didn;t Andy Saunders build it or something?
