Dodgy! Sadly, as a serious ebay trader despite seeing this happen all the time ebay rarely act on it. When they do it is in such a limp wristed way, the perpetrator can usually work round it. Ebay is a great site with massive benefits for both the buyer and seller but because of their 'American' way of doing things the site isn't as big or popular as it could be.

To be honest, he seems to have actually bought quite a lot of stuff for a shill bidder. There's enough suspicion to report it I'd say...but if he's actually bought the stuff (which his feedback suggests he may have done) then it's all above board.
ps.Tony, I got a call about that Merc...it's mine for £1100 if I want it - which I don't. Do you want his number?

A mate of mine sells stuff on eBay and gets his mates to shill stuff. And they "buy" his stuff all the time so just because he's "bought" stuff doesn't mean he really has.
Its no different to a real auction where theauctioneer takes bids off the wall or from the vendors' mates

Its no different to a real auction where theauctioneer takes bids off the wall or from the vendors' mates so as well as not actually selling the item he has to cough for the final sale value fee too! How does that help?

I think in the motor auctions they don;t chrage you, I've seen a fair few cars run back though on the same day after "selling". I bet they don't charge twice for it.
on eBay my chum takes the view that its cheaper than using a reserve price auction.

Hard to say with auctions, a lot of `of the wall` bidding goes on though it`s usually only up to reserve price. I`ve seen some greedy b*st*rds setting a reserve then get into bidding wars and then being too bleeding greedy to back out and end up winning their own stuff. A lot of stuff seen going through auctions then reappearing same place a couple of days later. Quite often this is because someone has used the CAP guide and bought something cheap then leaves it in til next auction and tries to make a few quid out of it. In some other cases it`ll be because the rip-off sh*tebags that own the auction get to see the resrves on cars so buy them themselves then keep putting them through until they make a drink out of it. There`s one up this way who allegedly do this all the time and therefore don`t get my money!
