I'm running some random Japanese old stock asbestos pads in my KP and ive found them amazing, loads of bite and they don't seem to fade (and ive been trying HARD!). They are better than EBC greens ive used before! Just don't breathe the dust in when changing them i suppose.

supposedly better than the modern alternatives. I've changed plenty of asbestos brakes and no ill effects.

Yep, remember having to switch from M171's to asbestos free (M1122??) and noticing the difference...

I doubt the home mechanic will be exposed to that much asbestos in his life. You're at greater risk from smoking, working with MDF, sanding filler or doing your own resprays.

plus - bonus in that in 20 years when you're coughing up blood and can't walk more than 20 yards, you can sue mintex / mintex's stockists / their dog / man in the street for not warning you of the dangers! i guess if you dampen them down before changing them to reduce dust there won't be too much badness.... certainly no more risky than having curse word pads instead

Last asbestos-related health & safety course I went on, the guy went to great lengths regaling us with tales of 'home mechanics' who had developed asbestosis after years of tapping out old drums on the kerbside then blowing the dust out....
