Scirocco Engine Into MK2 Golf

No welding needed to fit a tall block into a mk2, the engine mounts to the subframe, not the chassis legs.

The engine, gearbox, ignition system, inlet and carb would all go in, but you'll need the subframe, engine and gearbox mounts, gear linkage, some coolant hoses, and the exhaust manifold/downpipe off a 1.6 or 1.8 8v mk2, and depending on the Scirocco, maybe the gearbox output flanges off an earlier Scirocco or a mk1 tall block. So it may well be easier to just source an engine from a crashed or breaking mk2, as it'll already have the right bits.

Or like they said, the other option would be to stick with the small block engines, a 1.6 8v from a 6n Polo or Skoda Felicia can be swapped in with mostly only bolt on mods, or there's the 1.4 and 1.6 16v from 6n and 6n2 Polos, which I think need a bit more fiddling, but will go in on the mounts.
