Nice photo's of some very nice kit.
I do have a bit of a thing for Rallyes. Know a bit about the tech spec of them, but not much else.
What did VW build them for? I don't seem to remember them being rallied (followed it since Group B days). If they were used in motorsport (the numbers built, and their spec shouts homologation) were they competetive?

I don't seem to remember them being rallied (followed it since Group B days). If they were used in motorsport (the numbers built, and their spec shouts homologation) were they competetive? 5000 built for Homologation purposes all LHD, although officially 500 came to Britain badged up as SE's. They competed with reasonable sucess in a number of rally formats, never cracked group B because the supercharger fell under the multiplier rule for forced induction, but couldnt match the top end power of the turbo'd cars For a world of knowledge on its history, theres a cracking thread on Dubforce: www.dubforce.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=5937, and this PDF is good too www.dubforce.net/forums/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=2505Is it a requirement for VWs to have german look plates nowerdays then? :/ Apparently so, its getting a tad tedious I know.

Not many bonnets were opened, but I don't think there was a 16vG60 between them. There were a fair amount 20v's as expected, but it was an aural treat to hear a lot of G's, and a good few with toothed belts too
