SOLD - thanks for all interest!
EDIT: Located Bedford - Massive price drop due to MOT and Tax expiring. I need this gone now...
Hi all, I am selling my 190E Merc due to it picking up some slight issues, that in all honesty this being my second car (and have a nice cheap replacement lined up), I literally cannot be bothered to fix.. (It does run well enough to use currently – I am still using it at the moment)
This could potentially be a very good car if someone is willing to spend some time on it, also it could make a good learner drift car for someone young with little experience
1992 Mercedes 190E
2.0 Litre petrol Manual
239k miles (you wouldn’t believe it with the condition of the car though)
Alloy wheels
Cheap to insure (surprisingly cheap for young drivers)
MOT – 03/02/12
TAX - 31/01/12
The current known problems (in order of seriousness) and I am being very honest here, some of these are pretty minor..
There appears to be some sort of issue with fuelling, it constantly tries to stall (though rarely actually cuts out) and will occasionally sound like its running on 3 cylinders when idling. It actually runs perfect when accelerating, but sitting at a constant speed it feels horrible, keeps holding back, making a popping sound and then running ok again.
The heating does not work – either the fan or motor in the heater matrix- it keeps blowing fuses, and currently does not blow any air at all. Again I just haven’t looked into it.
Rust holes in the front wings. I was going to fix these cheaply myself, but just haven’t got round too it.
A few scratches, one big one on the bonnet and some on the doors – its pretty mint other than these, it is a 19 year old car to be fair.
Washer bottle doesn’t work – must be the pump or electrics- I have been using a bottle and pouring it out of the window for windscreen cleaning purposes. I can include this bottle for no extra fee!
Rear window on the drivers side does not work. I haven’t investigated this
Rev counted doesn’t work
Good Points:
I had a Cat 1 alarm fitted, as the old one was terrible. Cost 250 and have all the paperwork for insurance purposes.
Chassis looks extremely solid – only rust is on the front wings as mentioned above
New windscreen fitted by Autoglass® less than 6months ago, and is still perfect
Car had a respray roughly 2years ago – used to be red now a dark grey
Car has the cosworth bodykit, very subtle kit, makes the car stand out without looking silly, also has the front grill de-badged and painted black
Full leather interior, in amazing condition for the mileage, no holes and incredibly little wear
Wood grain dash inserts and matching radio.
Recent full service
I am looking for offers around £650 for this car, It would in my opinion make an excellent base for a project car due to the strength of the chassis, or a good road car if you are willing to spend some time on it! Any questions give me a shout
Thanks Rob
