I'm picking up a Mk1 cav in the morning, 1.3 engine in it.
No idea if its gonna run unleaded or leaded fuel though, anyone know?

Dunno if this is of any help but I've run my 2L Mk1 Cav on unleaded for 8 years and done 50,000 mile in it without a problem. The 1300 engines might be different, but I doubt it. I figured an old tough cast iron head would have old tough valve seats to match! I recently had my head off for a skim and the valve seats looked fine.

the 2.0 is the only cav engine thats unleaded safe, all the rest need leaded, sadly.

on the other hand, I ran my chevanne for 3 years (and many hard miles) on unleaded fuel with no additive and the engine is one of the few bits of the van that hasn't broken.......

Just put unleaded in... i'm advising that on the basis that leaded is now pretty much unavailable anyway. It'll be absolutely fine.

None of my cars have been converted to unleaded. None of my cars use an additive. I've never had a problem

Even if the valve seats do wear, it's only the same job to fix the car then as it is to fit hardened seats now. Only you'll probably have sold the car by then
