Body/Mechanicals
Having covered 167k its now well run in, head gasket was replaced just under 1000 miles ago. Head was skimmed and pressure tested before being refitted, whilst being carried out engine also had the majority of the plastic elbows and pipes on block and head replaced with new BMW parts, the thermostat is a aftermarket part that was replaced before I bought the car and as such leaks a bit. Its had 2 oil changes since the work was carried out, theres the oil and filter here for another change as well, airfilter was replaced, spark plugs were cleaned and regapped as looked to be in good nick. Engine runs well, idles lovely but sounds a bit tappety, has done since headgasket change but got no worse. Engine management light is on, Scan reveals it the oil temp sensor at fault easily sorted.
Driving the car is interesting, on smooth roads its as good as it should be, however over bumps it tends to wander around, both front wishbones fitted with polyflex rear bushes have been fitted, the steering rack was replaced with a low milage used example but its not had the tracking done as far as I know. I know both rear dampers need replacing as rear gets a bit of a bounce on sometimes. none of the tyres match and 3 are budget brands which i've been told doesn't help
Theres a patch of rust on the drivers side rear arch down by sill, stone chip above doors on passengers side and a sizable dent in the bootlid as the pictures show. Also car was recovered by AA when headgasket went and left on road outside my house, the next morning the local fire brigade decided to swipe the wing with their engine leaving a nice dent in that too. I haven't claimed for at as I don't think its worth the hassle when a correct colour wing could be picked up for circa £30 off here. Wheels have seen better days lots of kurb rash and corrosion, I was looking to get another set of wheels with good tyres to tidy up the exterior but wife wants a new car.
Interior
Black cloth interior, in good condition, small burn on 1 front seat, climate control, 6 CD changer mounted in the boot from factory. Load cover/dog guard in boot. Front electric windows all the quality and comfort you would expect from BMW interior doesn't look 160k old. In centre console one of the covers for "cubby holes" doesn't hold shut. The key doesn't work the central locking off the button, you have to physically lock and unlock the car with the key in the door, its no great hardship and i'll show you how to if needed.
History
I have the original service wallet with all manuals present and quite a number of bills etc covering most of the cars life.
All in all its a good car that returns good mpg that with a little work could make a good car for somebody who enjoys driving.
