sender change is pence so allways the first port of call, after that it could be a sticky releife valve, worn pump or main end bearings ? This. But unless you have an oil pressure gauge (which it doesn't sound like you do) it'd be inadvisable to drive it for the time being, some of these switches come on at such low pressure, around 7 psi on mine, that when you see it, the engine is already knackered. Did the light come back on when you came back to a halt?

1st check the sender or better still hook up a proper pressure gauge to check it. if it's actually a real problem most likely is probably the oil pressure relief valve, pump or maybe even a blocked or fractured pickup pipe. The oil pump is external on the A series so easy to remove and refit. A series are pretty indestructible little engines. I've had loads and apart from cooking one in an old scrapper, I've never managed to kill one.
