I'm Ray from Cali.....So Ive been trolling these boards for a few months since I got my beast, and I just gotta say I love what I see here. Lots of old POS's and people who get dirt under their nails and work on cars. I also get a kick out of seeing cars that were from my childhood like Brenda Escorts, Cortina's, Opel Manta's, Rekords, Isuzu Gemini's. Great late 70's to early 80's cars.
I'm sure you guys will like my ride. Shes a 1982 240D in Light Ivory with Palomino interior. 181K miles, slushbox, power everything, no sunroof. Clean inside and out. Repainted in 1991 in the orig shade. From how smooth the paint looks, it seems like a competent shop did the job. drives awesome, quiet interior, smooth shifting trans, good suction. I got this car from my uncle who was the orig owner, so I know everything about this car. The biggest damage to it was the bent lower front apron as seen in the pics. Other than that, the shes a gem.
Did some minor things: New Bosch GP's, reamed GP holes, replaced starter(which was the orig 29 year old unit), new Brembo blank rotors, new calipers, pads, reflush brake system, changed front fender, Alpine head unit and Polk speakers.
I come from a Honda/BMW background, addicted to cars since the 90's. Had 3 DA Integra's, E36/E46 3 series, some Toyotas, 85 Mitsu Lancer Boxtype while I lived in the Philippines for two years. Needless to say this one wont stay stock. Euro bumpers, lights, gauge panel, dumped but usable ride height, and Ford EFI 302 drivetrain. I know the purists will hate, but oh well. I need power. I'll keep the body and inside looking tasteful and stock, but I yearn for the V8 rumble.
