Bookmarked! What are these like to drive Tony? Are they much different from the m535i? Have you done a full grot inspection underneath yet? I hope it's not rotted under the rear subframe.

Totally different kettle of fish to the M535i - I've had both and found that the 12v engine had so much more grunt low down - but the 24v sings like a cathedral choir and positively thrives on revs - Tony that one looks well worth doing - unusual to see an M5 in that colour too - will be following with interest P.S. I'd have a side bet that nearside rear quarter has been replaced at some time

But then again it was about 17 years ago

Never had an E12 - only E28s, in fact I've had every model bar the diesel - and still have a hankering for another! What I love about the M5 over the M535i (e28) is it's just so understated - even the arch extensions are subtle (still got a mint set somewhere!). The one really quick e28 M5 I did have a go of had tubular headers - seemed to make a world of difference off the mark and did away with that butt-clenching moment where you hope the slipper does its job when it comes on the cam!

Someone told me that you had a 5 series yourself, Tony.
I get it, you are just practicing on this one before you do your own.
You can't beat a new Tonybmw thread to get you inspired, it is what I asked Santa for. ;D

It shall be interesting to see how this turns out. They certainly sound like lots of fun with the 24V engine . Best of luck but then I do hear that you are a bit of a magician with metalwork .
