So, back from ten lovely days in the highlands of Scotland (scots wayhay). Horay the Zs even started when asked but then coughed up its exhaust in protest, sheared at the joint between downpipe and system.
I have a peormance tailbox on order from OMP in italy so this might be the time to get a whole system. I think I can locate the manifold but I need some info on the best place to get a centre section. On the Zs this is a simple straight pipe so shoul be easy to fab. Any pointers on suppliers?
Cheers
ps no, its FAR to noisey to keep it as it is!

Burton Power and Rally Design both supply exhaust sections in various diameters, lengths and bend angles. They should be able to sort you out. www.raldes.co.uk (I think)

We were in the western highlands, on the road between Fort William and Mallaig. very remote, lovely. Trolled round skye etc and tried to get relaxed as you can with two small children and a dog in the car! Every other car seemed to be a Defender, by the end of the holiday we were driving home going "hmm, should we buy a Defender?"...no!
Apparently a company called long life will do a custom system from the manifold down for £265 fitted, stainless and designed to my specs, i.e. no centre box, nice and large diameter, will check out Mr Benz's suggestions also!

Nice up that way, isn't it? Had a scary incident in a Scania with the ol' man as a kid up there once. The ol' Scannie, all 44 tonnes and 18 wheels of lorry and trailer, went in to a massive slide on some ice on the road concealed by a thin snow layer, we had no control over the old beast, it nearly rolled onto it's side, and it came to a stop between two German tourist buses with about a 12 inches either side to spare. We got out of it with nothing but a huge shock, but imagine how much worse it could have been! Nice part of the world, the Scottish Highlands though, and the Western Isles just West of there too. The Isle of Skye is still full of bay window campers (there are still lots of hippies up there camping in them! No Kidding!) and Mull even has it's own rally where retro cars aren't just encouraged, they regularly win.

I have a LongLife on my 900Turbo. 1. They use very highgrade stainless (304) unlike most companies 2. the system is created on your car while you wait 3. the quality of construction is very dependant on which branch you use, I had to take mine back to the one I used in the westmidlands for repair & I think I may have to again where as many of the others have great reps. 4. This type of stainless turns gold when heated, found this out afterwards

Nearly ended up stuck in the gutter avoiding the little b*&^%$ds the last time i was up there. Cant make mi mind up weather to go up in the car or on the bike. If you really want to be interesting get a trailer on the bike and tow the car beihind it! ;D
The worst danger up that way isn't the sheep, it's the kamikaze wood-pigeons that panic when they see a motor and fly round and round until something hits them. And it can damage a motor, I've lost headlights, spotlights, and bent panels and grilles that way many a time when I was up north.

Yes Skye was lovely. Didn't see too many bay windows (campers or on houses, but I know which you mean!)
Its great to drive through the landscape with my sadly fave band (Runrig - who come from Skye) and actually see the places mentioned in the song lyrics. It's weird to hear people talking Gaelic also!
It rained nicely one morning and on the way to Fort William on the Mallaig road saw a guy in a Civic Type R who had lost it big stylee on a bend and gone through two bend warning signs and found a large granite wall beyond. Also a Nova that had laid about 100 yards of rubber on its way into the ditch (hooray!)

Probably where I had that off in the Scannie, it's near Fort William and about as safe as sky diving with no parachute when it's slippery, especially icy. You see plenty of VWs near Tengue (I think that's the spelling, it's pronounced cheng strangely enough, which sounds far more far east than Western Isles to me! ) as opposed to Portree which is further north and more modern and has more people in it. When I was there last it was July, which explains all the campers, but apparently they're all from the Western Isles, I asked around) and stayed in the Toravaig Hotel near the University, that area is deserted, and the hotel is a converted old cottage type of thing (quite nice, there's an inpromptu ceilidh in the pub just about every night! )
