Our son has a K10 Micra as his first car but it has a problem... It keeps loosing its indicators, you fit a new relay it works a couple of times but after a bit of use it has burned the relay out. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this??

its sounds to me like either a dodgey earth or the socket for the relay has been mucked about with and the perm live and switched live are connected back to front

if at first you don't succeed...use a gas axe!

How much current are the indicators drawing? Is it using the right bulbs? Does it use an old fashioned type flasher relay with three terminals? What part of the relay is burning out?

Its a 3 pin relay and it just gets hot then dies ie no longer passing current so indicators are not on at all.

I would start by measuring the current draw of the indicator circuit, also measure the resistance in the left and right hand circuits to make sure they are the same. Sounds like its got a short to earth somewhere, I wouldnt rule out a dodgy switch either.

Similar happened to my van recently. Turned out to be faulty column switch.
