The Golf is fitted with a Clifford G4 alarm (I hate it tbh) which was fitted in the mists of time. The fob works perfectly, the alarm works as it should but the actual fob case is in terrible condition. It's supposed to look like this- The little loop part which the key ring goes through has snapped so it won't fit onto my keys anymore and I'm worried I'll lose it. I've seen some for sale and they're in the region of £50+! Anyone know anywhere cheaper or does anyone have one of these lying about they'd like to sell? I only need it for the case and buttons.

Jesus, I've taken quite a few of these alarms out (hateful things!) and just lobbed the whole pile of "potential immobiliser fault that leaves you stranded" in the bin with a smirk, and a slight sense of pity for the poor sod who paid £500+ for it in the first place.
They aren't generally very difficult to remove - the connections to the starter/fuel pump feed are usually fairly obvious.

How would I go about it? Just disconnect it from the starter/fuel pump, whereabouts would I start? I'd rather just stick to my Disklock and key. REALLY don't trust it.

I've seen some awful fitting attempts, backed up by £1k+ receipts in the service history. One car had 3 meters of mega thin wire used in the splice from the fuel pump. The wire got warm in normal use , and the pump only saw about 9v after all the voltage drop.
I obviously can't give step by step instructions (well, I could but someone would probably moan) but yeah, the alarm will just be spliced into a few wires to immobilize the vehicle, plus a few more wires to make the indicators flash and provide power to the alarm.
The wires on the alarm are usually all black, so you have to follow them to where they join to the car loom to see what they do. Common connections on a golf would be: (colour codes are all off the top of my head so might be wrong)
+12v battery feed, (Red) Ground (Brown) Ignition feed (probably black) Indicators (Left is Black with a white stripe, Right is black with a green stripe) Interior light/door pin wire (Grey with red stripe perhaps, might be different)
The wires that will be cut into and immobilised are likely to be two of the following:
Fuel pump feed - Red with yellow stripe Ignition feed - Plain black (This is arguably less common - If none of the ignition lights come on when the alarm is armed and the key turned, this is what they used) Starter Motor feed - Red with black stripe.

I had one of these. It locked me out of the car about three times, the alarm constantly went off over the slightest thing. Way too complicated, with millions of settings. I had the same, it's a cheap crappy plastic case, I'm sure I've seen replacement cases well below 50 quid. I think the G5 also fits.
I have the wiring schematic for this alarm system as well. If it's been done professionally, the main black wire for the starter will be spliced into the alarm immobiliser system. This will be in the engine bay for added security.
