Hi Guys
this is from a fellow member on VVOC please can you read it and keep an eye out for anything. if you hear or see anything please post on here, ill link up the thread over on VVOC.
thanks
I don't want to go into too much detail here for reasons that I think will become obvious reasons. My family have always been loath to part with cars and as such most of our old cars have been kept, this means we had some rare classics stored in a lockup on the outskirts of Titchmarsh in Northamptonshire.
My Dad has an original Mini Cooper S thats been fully restored and only gets driven twice a year, once for the mot and then again at xmas time if the weather is appropriate. Anyway he went to the lockup where the cars are kept to find its been broken into and FOUR of the cars have gone, these include the mini which the police do now have as we had the forsight to fit a tracker to it.
The other 3 were non runners, not MOT'd and not insured, its not the value of these cars that I'm bothered about its the sentiment of what these cars are and what they mean to me.
The 1st is my dead grandads car, a 1938 Wolsley, black over cream with chrome trim, no obvious damage that we are aware of although the car would have been very dirty after standing for the last 20 odd years
2nd a 1964 Vauxhall Viva 2300SL, in green with a big dent in the passengers front wing and front bumper missing which belonged to my now dead Uncle
3rd was mine, a 1980 mk2 escort estate in powder blue and rusty as hell all round
We beleive these were taken on the back of an Iveco BeaverTail as the theives were disturbed by a local farmer who knows my dad. Please if anyone has ANY info, sightings etc please please get in touch, my family are absolutely devastated, as am I, I'm just seriously glad we have the mini back or will at least get it back from the police, however I fear the others could be gone for good.

Hey everyone, there's a lock-up on the outskirts of Titchmarsh, Northamptonshire, that contains some rare classics...
I know it must be very upsetting but that was pretty much my first reaction, and I'm not even a dishonest thieving curse word. Far too easy to get on Google Maps and look up a place like Titchmarsh to see if it's some tiny village with not many lock-ups around the outskirts...

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Hardcore, thanks for moving to the correct place for me.

Hi guys, thanks to recaro for posting this on here. These are my cars that have been taken, so far we have recovered the Mini and the Wolsley and the truck on which they were taken with and an arrest has been made, alas no still no sign or word on the Escort or the Viva. I had a couple of emails from people with supposed sightings of the Viva but so far these have proved fruitless and one I know was a point blank Bullplop as the Viva was supposedly seen driving up the road, considering the Viva is damaged and undriveable....... Anyway ive spent alot of time following leads up but nothing so far, I fear these two cars may be gone forever, The Escort, whilst it sucks its been taken isnt so bad as that was my own car but the Viva belonged to a dead uncle and the damage was sustained when he had a heart attack at the wheel and hit a pole, my uncle died some hours later in hospital and the car was kept as it was. My big problem is that because these cars were being stored as they were undrivable, they have no MOT Tax or insurance. So ive no financial recompense for that, its not the financial value that matters to me its the sentimental value of these cars thats worth far more. All the cars have now been moved from the old place to a new secure unit and I am in the process of working out some form of keeping the rest with some sort of insurance on them which is a bill me and my dad will have to split between us. The real tragedy is that whilst moving the rest of the cars we lost two more due to their fragile state as the theives hadnt been gentle with them when they moved them and as gentle as we were the damage was done. Lets just hope we can get these two remaining cars back in our posession.

really hope you find the others safe, I know it must be hard with such sentimental value. Also hope the scum who took them pay dearly, I know not a nice thing to say but I imagine I'm not the only person thinking this, they have no respect for other peoples' property.

Final update on this, we got a call today telling us where the last two cars are, my dad went out and sure enough the cars were where we were told they were, they had dumped the viva in the bottom of a 6ft deep ditch that was full of water and then rolled the escort upside down on top of it. Both cars are now history. Absolutely gutted. One small solace is that one person has been charged with the taking of the Wolsley and the Mini (his prints were all over it) however he will only admit to taking the wolsley but denies all knowledge of the other 3. I guess time will tell as to what "punishment" he will get in the courts, apparently he is well known to the police. So thank you all for your help and support, its been much appreciated.

At least there is someone to blame, not that the justice system will deter them or do much And you have them all back albeit in worse condition

the whole story is sickening. and the scrote that did this will probably get a fine and be on his way, the fine will more than likely be less than the owner of the cars has lost in scrap value alone, never mind the real value of the cars. gutted for you. if like you say hes known for it. he wont change his ways. id happily execute these leeches. no respect at all for things that mean everything to other people
