It's awesorrible! I'm pretty sure it won't be restored to current standard, though it's just as important, historically speaking, as many a restored period 60s racer, it's all part of our heritage.
I'd love to find something like this one day when I had the means to do it justice and then go to lots of shows and just confuse people with my 70s survivor.

Nice Mk1 Cortinas fetch decent money these days - doesn't look like it would take too much effort to remove all the extras and put it back to standard - my guess is it will sell relatively cheap as it is and that it will 'restored' to standard.

I wonder iff its got a red light illuminating the rear diff! I do hope so. If I bought this, it would have to have the legend of 'Cortinargh' on it somewhere.

I love seeing cars like this as when i was growing up and in school I used to spend most of my time flicking throguh the pages of redline, revs and the rest of them in awe of the saxos on 20s and big bodykitted mk4 escorts. in fact I still want a mk4 escort with wrc kit as it just struck me as awesome when I saw it.
these styles are what we were brought up with. Getting rid of them would be like destroying our childhood. I know for a fact I still have a soft spot for fast and furious style cars as that was my favourite film growing up and I still remember the kingdom development kitted renault 5s and Novas of the last decade.

Couldn't agree more. I'd already been into motorsport from a VERY young age, but I bought my first copy of Custom Car aged 12 (January 1977, still got it somewhere) and it was somewhere around that point that the Damaged die was well and truly cast. Would love to see that tottering around the corners on bias-belted Pos-a-Traction Torque Twisters and a jack-up kit, being driven by a right dude in a black leather blouson jacket, beige patch-pocket flares and bum-fluff moustache, chewing a match and listening to the Doobie Brothers on his 8-track. Too cool for (reform) school.

That car is such a winner. I'd be happy to buy it and stash it away just to preserve it as is. It's a fantastic piece of automotive history.

I had a mate that was conditioned to this sort of stuff - back when I was a student.
My first word was "Biscuit", his was "Emmerson Fitipaldi"
Darren Jones. Late of Llangammarch Wells, formerley of Bedford - trying to find a Bedfordshire guy called Jones that moved to mid wales is a nightmare.
Is he on here?

NNNOOOOOOOH I want to buy it now just so I can keep the restore it to standard people away from it. As it is it's a piece of history, as standard it's just another Cortina.

i saw this car in the flesh at the last retro ford morley mass of the year. it was for sale on a trailer and looked in a bad way to me. nothing you clever buggers couldn't fix though.
there are certainly elements to it that would be cool to keep but it could certainly do with a bit of a de-clutter
