The piont of this thread is to identify cars which are not quite retro therefore not "cooltaxed" , but in there prefacelifted form are "oldskool" cool. First example would be a rover 100, unloved, unretro But cheap bolt ons can mask it as this- But faster with better brakes ect.. Another is take a late audi 80 with all its mecahanical improvements, cheap as chips, and give it a b3 90 face or a dawoo nexia to mk2 astra, Must be more, post pics!

According to Ben, any 240 will take the early front end with no mods: But with extra rust proofing, better mechanics, electronics, AC, power steering etc.

According to Ben, any 240 will take the early front end with no mods Trufact. Though it is worth mentioning that the scuttle panel is different on the earlier ones. I didn't find the difference offensive so never chopped stuff about. It's all nuts and bolts other than that.

must admit i'm quite tempted by the rover 100 idea as opposed to a proper old metro. i'm sure you can style them similarly without actually trying to replicate

Similar things IME rarely pan out well (ala fake Zakspeed Capris) . However I shall admit some facelifts do work rather well. The 240 idea sounds appealing .

My ute is an example of this. It's a late WB Holden ute, so it would originally have had a front end like this: But I bought mine with an HZ front end, like so: Although of course mine is hidden by a bull bar anyway. The option is also there to swap all the way back to HQ, and all of the front ends were available with either two headlights or four! I believe that there are over a dozen front clips for the HQ-WB Holdens, and you don't even need to change the fenders! It's just a nosecone and bumper bar.

Even Ford was upto it, the MkII escort estate was like this... which was one of these with the MkII front end on it so easy to change it back as the special front wings must be like poor quality wobbly children's play pony poo!!

Always quite fancied the idea of a series 1 Mk3 Granada Estate...... which of course didn't exist. Doubt it would be that difficult.

behold my half aresed effort I'm thinking the E-150 might be agoer is I could find the parts as it is now a 1992 model Pre 1991 thought looking at the two pictures the wings might be a proplem due to the swage line.

Retro-ing a R100 would be a mission, possible but a mission. The whole front end is different to take the wider and longer K series and the track is wider, so Mk1/2 panels would have to be cut 'n' shut to fit. Also the rear end has a different panel for the lights. My lad has a Mk 2.5 Gta; front and rear are Mk2 Metty, the main shell is the R100. Not many of them about....

Facelift and pre-facelift micra's are interchange able: Pre-facelift. Facelift. Or you can have a cross like mine: Pre-facelift front end with facelift bumper.

I think you can put the whole mk3 cortina front end straight on a mk5 estate or cortina shape P100, my cousin did it but I cant remember if he had to modify the bonnet slam panel.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

One of these, available until 2002 or thereabouts... with a bit of imagination and lots of impossible to get parts.... Not sure any cheapness in it though.
