Hi all,
I want to rebody an 1960s-1970 chassis with an even older body from a "normal" car.
How do I set about keeping things legal? I might have access to two or three pre 70's Land Rover chassis, for example, with shot bodies but weldable chassis.
BUT - the body;
Would I have to own V5 papers just for a body off a 1930s-1960s car in order to install it and register the vehicle properly? Or can I just buy a body with receipt, off a breaker?
I don't want a Q plate. The chassis, running gear and all will be as the original vehicle. The body will be from a non-monococque car. I might install a different engine to be more useable.

Can this be done without losing the Land Rover's Historic vehicle status? I hope this makes sense. Have any of you done something similar in the last 5 years and survived the DVLA?
I have done this the opposite way - Making a 100" Land Rover Lightweight by installing an extended body onto a 1990 reg Discovery chassis. It was easy as pie (registering), it is now registered as a 1990 Disco. But the Govt did not stand to lose any road funds....if you know what I mean.....am I over complicating it? does the same rules apply here?
Many thanks - AGAIN!
