It's basically the same lump. It's not that nice with a turbo on, though....I've driven both Escorts and Mongdildos with TD lumps in...not that pleasant.
My mate had an 1800 non-turbo Escort van, same age...once they get a bit old 65-75 is about normal on the flat, any more than that and it's VERY good. Toby's had 170k-odd on the clock and we used to chase road rallies in it in Wales, so it can't have been THAT slow.....

I believe the end of the inlet manifold is on the wrong (drivers) side on the Mondeo, I don't think it fits in the Escort.
I don't know if the exhaust manifold/turbo setup is any different though so you my be able to work something out.

yeah same blocks , ive done the conversion myself , you need to swap water pumps, flywheel , clutch etc,
a escort td engine is far easier to do but not hard for either,.

No such thing as a non turbo diesel mondeo is there same block and head, differant pump, inlet and ex manifolds ect, i run a mondeo block and head in my P100 BUT as said it's a LOT easyer to just fit an escort TD as the manifolds are all wrong on the escort
