hmm, i wouldnt trust welding dissimilar grade alloy sheet into cheap cast alloy wheels like that. might work, might not. i wouldnt want to be the one who found out though.

He actually did a lot of material tests on the alloys before welding the material in, and also some test on a chip of the alloy to see if the weld broke away from the alloy or not, seemed fairly through to a dweeb like me

Agreed. Although his welds look good, you have to ask - what is the point? Is it really worth it? Not much knee room in that first pic though
