The time has come for me to part company with my 106 GTi. It has been quite a faithful car from the moment I put it into daily use in addition to quite a fun and swift steed too! It has also been surprisignly good on fuel (33-37MPG) and not too crazy on the insurance (compared to my old 306 TD I paid around £50 to put this on).
Anyway, the car.
It comes with MOT until May 2012 and tax until April 2012. It has covered 110,000 miles and is Diablo red in colour.
On the outside you are greeted with the usual GTi accoutrements including 14" Speedline 'Raptor' alloy Wheels (shod with 4 good tyres (2 are new Toyos)), GTi/Rallye bodykit and spoiler finished off in Diablo Red. It is actually very tidy for its age bar some laquer peel present on the bonnet in addition to the very top of the A Pillar. However it does still look quite smart.
Inside again it is quite pleasent for a 106, having electric windows and mirrors, fully sliding and tilt sunroof, leather and alancatara interior, leather steering wheel and gearknob, in addition to a CD Player. Again it is all in good order with all the electrics working although there is a small amount of wear present on the gearknob and steering wheel. The seats are actually in good condition exhibiting none of the tears and rips that seem to be affecting more Peugeots.
The engine is of the TU5JP4 variety (that's the 16 valve 1.6 engine) producing 120BHP and giving fairly swift progress for a car that weighs 890kg. The engine is in superb condition, starting on the button, running smoothly in addition to revving quite well. I have recently treated the car to a full service including oil, oil filter, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter in addition to a coolant change (on OAT coolant) with a new thermostat. I also fitted a Janspeed stainless steel exhaust system complete with a Janspeed decat pipe (Cat shall come in the sale). It seems to have received a new radiator prior to my ownership and I was informed that it had a replacement alternator fitted.
Mechanically the car is fine. It shifts through the gears well in a slick and crunch free affair and the clutch is biting at around the right point to boot. Bar the two new Toyo tyres on the front it also has two new lower arms up on on the suspension front in addition a genuine new ABS sensor.
I am asking £1000 for this car, and you are more than welcome to view the car.
