I'm taking my car in for an MOT next, need it on the road quicker than planned.
Is a cracked windscreen where the tax disc is so outside of "zone a" around 6inches an MOT failure?
The handbrake works but has alot of play, failure?
Cheers

maybe and maybe - is the crack inside or outside of the swept area of the wipers?

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

what do you mean by the handbrake has a lot of play but works? Does the lever reach the end of its travel but still hold the car, my car was like that last year and it was a fail. Simple solution though shortened the handbrake cable

if its just inside the wipers, how do ya stand on fitting smaller wipers? Test as presented - pass and advise On the handbrake, if it has no reserve travel (I.E. it is holding on the last notch) then it is a fail. If it has side play in the lever that is so excessive that you can release the brake by pushing it sideways, it is a fail. In all other cases (assuming minimum efficiency is met) pass and advise.

If it's a couple of inches you should get away with it but if there are marks to show the original swept area you might get a fail for not effectively clearing the screen . I had this a few years back with a smartarse putting a 13" blade on a transit to try and get around having a big crack in the screen after I failed it a couple of weeks earlier

Cheers lads, looks like I'll be needing a new windscreen and the handbrake sorting.
