Model: Peugeot 106 1.0 XN
Year: 1995
Mileage: 125,000
Tax: February 2012
MOT: May 2012
Location: Norfolk
Price: 275
Additional Information:
I bought this Pug a while back as an economical runabout to run to work and back in, which it was brilliant for. However it's since been replaced by a slightly daft tuned Rover 220 SDi, which is just about as economical but a fair bit quicker. At the moment it's just sitting about wasting the tax and test, so it's probably time for it to go.
It's a completely bog-basic model - 954cc engine, 4-speed gearbox, no electric windows, power steering, central locking or rear wiper - its only "luxury" is a pop-up sunroof. It's perfectly good as a runaround, though, and is actually surprisingly quick for such a tiny engine. It's not too bad on a long run either - although it only has four gears, they're spaced wider apart than on a 5-speed car so the overall gearing in top is about the same. It coped well with a wee hours dash to Stansted airport when I slept through my alarm, sitting at 80-plus all the way down without breaking a sweat. I also find the four-speed box with its wider gate a lot more pleasant to use than the 5-speed.
It's actually a pretty tidy car for its age overall, but there are a few issues - the fabric on the backrest of the driver's seat is ripped, the top of the steering wheel is worn, and other general wear and tear that you'd expect after 120-odd thousand miles. It still drives well though, and it still has a full complement of Peugeot wheeltrims. The electrics all work too, such as they are. Tyres are good, but I do think it needs the front wheels balancing as it vibrates a bit over about 65.
It's MoT'd until May and taxed till the end of February, and would make a useful winter runabout - in fact it would probably be better on icy roads than the Rover, but I can't keep them all.
Here's some pictures.
