I just wanted to clarify, really. I know it sometimes looks as if they're frivolous and ill thought-out. Basically, some threads I write (proportionally fewer recently, admittedly) include some form of research, digging, fact-hunting etc. I started appending ' [pics]' to thread titles recently on threads where I share just that: pictures of a cool car I've found. I give little to no information about these cars, because I think it encourages more interesting discussion that way; people pinpoint elements of the car that they like or would have done differently, or find similar cars they've seen, or know the car and can provide a little history. The [pics] threads are conversation starters. Sometimes the board used to seem a little deficient in cool old car content, with threads predominantly focusing on areas like 'I need insurance advice'/'what modern daily should I buy'/etc - OK in moderation, of course, but I just wanted to redress the balance a little. Plus I come across a lot of random cars that are too cool not to share... Other people (WillCarter, Volksangyl, PandaSelecta etc) have, I've noticed, adopted the ' [pics]' thing, which is good. This way we know that if you click in one of these threads, there'll be a few snaps of an interesting car and, I hope, a springboard for discussion. I hope you're enjoying it. I am. Here, have some [pics] of a big shiny red thing.

Are you getting paid or something to give us so much cool content?

Excellent work dbiz. It's what keeps me coming back and a lot of the cars you and the others post give me great inspiration for my own cars. Please keep it up chaps.

dbiz is da shiz foo sho
top work, I think the pics moniker works well, you know what you are getting and it is sooo varied that it gives and eclectic spectrum of cool cars that would otherwise be missed. Combined with the xxxx Weeks that started to occur it adds to the depth of knowledge and scope of the forum. Doff my cap to you sir.

Adopted the [pics] thing because I'm a serial poster of that sort of thing and it helps to show just what people are in for. If I want a quick browse of something inspirational and cool, the [pics] threads are great for that and I know I can put them aside should I have a bit more time to digest some decent info. Stuff like this make for great forum contributions.

I think it's a brilliant idea and one that has been great for easily spotting cool threads with cool cars. The only thing I ask (and I don't think I am alone in this by any means) is that if the pics are bigger than 800 wide, that maybe it would be better to re-host them? I know this takes more time, but some of the posts recently have had really big pics in them which makes viewing them almost impossible (I do most of my interwebz stuff on a netbook and I know a lot of other people do too) Anytime a big pic is posted it means any text gets stretched across the same width too. Not only can you not view the whole picture, but you have to constantly scroll left & right numerous times just to read what is being said. I added some pics to the "Nice Jag" thread this morning, but noticed that they were wider than 800 (only 1024 which is nothing compared to some of the pics posted up recently) so rehosted them where my photobucket automatically resizes any large pics to 800 wide. Sorry to go off on one, it's not a negative comment, more a constructive thing to mention which might make viewing these pictures even more enjoyable for everyone. Keep up the good work Bizzle (and everyone else ) [edit]Just an example of the wider pics thing is this very thread. To read any of the comments I have to scroll back & forth for every line. This one isn't as bad as some, but it just takes the shine off using the forum when you can't just read things or view them. Don't hate me [/edit]

Currently using Opera which has some nice touches. If if detects you are on a slow network (ie mine ) it changes to Opera Turbo to improve speed. It also has a nice "fit width to screen" option which rejigs pages with big pics and some text so they fit properly without having to scroll left and right. Sound like it might be ideal for you

I really like the "[pics]" for two reasons. 1/ I know that when I click on the thread I'll be greeted with some inspirational pictures of some description. 2/ I am on a limited bandwidth, and very slow, internet connection quite often so knowing that the threads only contain pictures means I can avoid them (not that I want to, but thats my circumstances.). I love the threads though, so keep up the good work!!

It's a great idea, I know what I'm getting when I click on the link! Rather than another link ;D
