I had a MG ZS 180 earlier this year and you get a nice car for the pennies they sell for. But when something went wrong - it was a pain the aris to find parts!

I used to, for want of a better word, 'joyride' various MG's and rovers when I worked in a Rover garage. The 2.5 V6 MG ZS was without doubt one of the best cars I have ever driven. One of our customers had an induction kit and custom stainless exhaust fitted to his and the sound was EPIC.

Wooooow. I love that! Works so well, and I wonder how hard it'd be to do the engine conversion? Can't be too hard as the 400 is basically an MB Civic, and the VTi came with the B18 ;D TE37's suit it really well; better than you'd expect. Actually really like the look of that. Tyres look good too, white lettering that takes up the whole of the width of the sidewall is the way forward imo. There's an MB6 VTi in my local scrapyard, if I had a bit more spare cash at the moment I'd love to get the engine and store it for when I can afford to insure the conversion in the Civic. May have been crushed now as they don't always keep cars for long though Would love a B-series in a stock looking 400 though, with scrapes on the bumpers and two and a half wheeltrims, kinda like this:

...and I didn't think there would be ever any oppurtunity to bang up a pic of my daily on RR! MG ZS 2.0 Turbo . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (diesel)Cost me £900, ride is harsh and for a derv it aint that great on juice BUT it's a hoot on boost as it's been tweaked and putting out 250 ft lb (ish) of torque

Thats proper modding - Mind you as pointed out above the ZS is s**t hot handling and good performance for peanuts True about the handling, we had a standard 2.5 as a pool car and me and one of the salesmen went out in it when it had about 12 miles on the clock down some twisty country lanes and on a thrash through some sweeping curves i looked down at the speedo and couldnt beleive how planted the car felt at the speed he was doing. There must be companys out there specializing in parts for these and id have thought with rover 400's and 45's fetching low prices, an awesome car should be had for good money. With handling like that all this poke and stretch lark suddenly seems pointless.

Yeah my Aerodeck has the B18 lump and I know ALOT of the 45/400 MGZS parts fit...
Infact, the MG ZS rear ARB is one of the best mods for the MB apparently...

MG ZS 2.0 Turbo Really??! I thought these only came with a K series engine, up to a 1.8 or the 2.5 KV6? or is it a Diesel? Good, overlooked cars anyway and I like the OP (diesel)Cost me £900, ride is harsh and for a derv it aint that great on juice BUT it's a hoot on boost as it's been tweaked and putting out 250 ft lb (ish) of torque

alolympic - his will have the BMW derv engine (if I'm not mistaken) all other 200s and 400 based rovers (including MG variants) will have the nommy L-series derv On my earlier one, the pump will only fuel enough for about 150Bhp reliably, but whilst giving around 250ft/lb of torque. Mine's currently at about 100Bhp, clutch slip occurs at 2750rpm (ish) so places it at around the 190ft/lb range www.ajdesigner.com/phphorsepower/horsepower_equation_rotating_torque.phpI LOVE this engine, so much... it hurts

ZS' are hugely underated cars. My ex used to race one and it was seriously impressive. I've always fancied "de-MGing" one.
