In response to the 'worst car' thread, and as suggested, here's a 'best car' thread to spread postivity and luuurve for our rides. For me, it will be hard to beat my Quantum saloon. Built in 1995 for maybe half the cost of going and buying a mainstream coupe like a Calibra. So for one, it was something different from the norm, but it was my daily for over 5 years, covering 60,000 miles. It commuted; drove to a couple of track days, got thrashed around, and driven home again; towed a trailer and kitcar the length of the country. It did everything I asked of it, which is not the way with kitcars. It's down to the engineering skills of the Wooldridge brothers who produced it. A very under-rated car in it's day. Not mine, (I wasn't digital back then), but a very similar car ![](http://www.marotaxaties.nl/Fotos/Porfolio3/QuantumSaloonXR21987RA.jpg)

Lada Riva. Quick for what it was, easy to get sideways, fun as a box of frogs. Still cant work out why I sold it, it was the one car I really wish id done something with.

Has to be this, used it everyday for six years, never broke down, great fun to drive. Put 50k on it before laying it up...... ![](http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d195/86Mike/n584741926_2342633_1338698-1.jpg)

Even though it'd bounce about and I could'nt park it within 1/4 mile of my house. Mike D's L200 has given me a massive hankering for another.

Hmmmm, I am not sure. Probably the 3.0 Mondeo in my signature. A modern I know but it does tick many boxes. It was a sad day when I put that on as a works vehicle. As for a retro, I would like to say the Stag (my friends seem to think so!) but I shall say the old MGB Sebring GT I owned. Yes the body needed sorting but it didn't half drive lovely and become reliable towards the latter part of my ownership ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) .

My mk2 Scirocco, I bought it with 94k on it, put another 80k miles on it in 2yrs and it never missed a beat. It averaged over 40mpg unless seriously abused ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Pic from the day I bought it ... ![](http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k145/skattrd/newroc.jpg) Note to self: get it back on the road lpg it and use it as a daily.

Pound for pound it was my £50 Skoda Favorit, never let me down once, always started on the button, was surprisingly fun to drive and would go anywhere in any weather, ended up giving it away to a woman at work who used it for another few months again without any issues. Coincidentally it was replaced by the worst car I ever owned.

My E39 535i V8 - everything i ever wanted. Extremely quick when I wanted it to be (or chavs wanted a race), but comfortable and smooth when I had the kids or parents in it. Looked stuning when I had the Schnitzer wheels on it, sounded awesome, and was cheaper than an M5. It would not be the same now as I owned it at a time when petrol was a little more affordable . . . . ![](http://i767.photobucket.com/albums/xx317/j99nno/BEEMER.jpg)

Best to own and drive..... Ford Sierra XR4i - Was just great fun to drive, went fairly well, looked and sounded ace, always got a great response from over petrol heads, always a conversation starter. I always loved the stupid 80's styling! ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/robin_xr4i/FordSierraMynewtoy.jpg) Best for skids...... Vauxhall Omega 2.5 - Modern I know, but it was a great tramp drifter, so predictable and easy to drift. Would have another one in a heart beat. ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/robin_xr4i/28132895.jpg)

Formerly it was a 2.0l Colt Celeste GT - a seriously quick 2+2 coupe which would give the hot hatches of the day a nasty surprise. Like WillCarter above it was replaced by the VERY worst car I have owned, a 1.6 Honda Accord auto.
Latterly it is my 1999 1.6 MX5 - one of the best cars I have ever driven, and the best smiles per gallon you could wish for.

It has to be the old mk3 Zephyr 'Ute' I built years ago and used as a daily ![](http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/7056/dscf0007p.jpg) By zodiac10 at 2009-04-13

I loved this car but the lowered suspension made it as twitchy as.... even with the camber corrected on the back. It came to a sticky end on a wet roundabout and my daughter still hasn't forgiven me. ![](http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a112/keithyboy/old%20cars/img002.jpg) This was utterly brilliant in every way. Uber reliable, quick, great handling etc. etc. However, that made me lose interest. ![](http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a112/keithyboy/primera/DSCN0821.jpg) My favourite has been my Alfa 156 though. The Primera GT was a better car but the alfa just has something extra. shame it's sat on my drive with no tax, MoT or insurance and a knackered battery really. Anyone fancy swapping for a cheap Golf TDi? ![](http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a112/keithyboy/Alfa/nuts041.jpg)

Christ an impossible question..
Most love, my P5b saloon
Most fun my TVR Chimaera
Best feeling My 911 SC
Most 'part of me' my P38 4.6 Range Rover
Best for doing exactly what it says on the tin my TDi '00 Golf
At the time I thought both my SD1 Vitesse and my 3rd Capri Laser were just the best thing since sliced bread and I loved them dearly but I think that's just nostalgia and driving similar cars now I don't get the same buzz..

This question has come up a few times, and I'm going to stick to my guns. No, not my Zodiac (I loved it, but it was a million miles away from being the 'best' at anything). Out of the 125 or so cars I have owned, the best one (in the truest sense of the word) was this... ![](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f387/cmpod83/cal.jpg) ![](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f387/cmpod83/cal2.jpg) It was incredibly mint without the slightest whisper of rust. The 2.0 8v engine was quick, great on fuel, cheap to maintain and the car on the whole was incredibly comfy. It also had a bloody massive boot (they're far more practical that you'd ever think). Bought for £300, ran for six months and subjected to 30,000miles of daily abuse/work. Broke my heart to sell it. A great, GREAT car. Earning it's fuel... ![](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f387/cmpod83/pic041.jpg) Chris
