Well, my Golf has failed its MOT for the past two years on rear handbrake efficiency, usually a bit of WD40 and a wiggle around would give just enough movement to scrape through.
For this year I didn't want to be so close to the limit so thought i would do the job properly and change everything.
So, this week, during the wet evenings I've fitted Mk4 rear calipers, braided hoses, new brake lines (after shearing the old ones), new pads, discs and handbrake cables.
The best bit? I did it all myself. The first proper job i have done myself and I am chuffed as it breezed through the MOT and now has a proper handbrake Woo Hoo!!
To some of the more diehard mechanics on here this may be small beer but you've gotta start somewhere and I think this was quite a complicated first job for an office bod ;D
Now, where did I put the plasters to stop these bleeding knuckles
