Does anyone know if a Vauxhall Victor FB diff will fit in a Vauxhall Viva 1256 axle?

no i don't think it will
i believe the fc axle is same diff as magnum type axle though..
hopefully someone more knowledgable that i will be along soon to correct me

Ive managed to get an axle off ebay for £5 lol, So its probley worth the risk to see if it will fit

sounds like a last second bid.... might be more profitable to weight it in and get your £5 back

HB (and I think Hc) heavy duty axles use FD Victor diffs. Those were fitted to Vivas with slant 4 motors. IIRC.

As alistairk has said the victor diff is to big for a 1256 axle case. the slant four engined HC used a fd victor axle case and diff assy to cope with the power output. On all standard vauxhall axles the diff assy is built up in the case with shims on the side bearings and a colapsable spacer between the bearings on the pinion. It the requires preloading and test marking to check for correct meshing, if its wrong then strip and start again, I know I have rebuilt more of these than I care to remember.
