A superb story there.
The memories I have of my dad's cars were bringing back A-Rover cars (Montegos being popular) when he was at Royal Ordinance. That and a tired Mini 1380 Clubman GT. That he did spend many a weekend on.
Other cars include a nearly new MkIII Escort XR3i in Caspian Blue (it was stolen) in which he covered 70k (that was a great car), and a 1991 Sierra 2.0 GLS Twink. Another great car which was then sold to my uncle. I shall not say much more about what happened to it after...

I think all my dads old cars (and bikes) are gone. Couple of bikes destroyed after he sold them, one burnt out on him, many cars consigned to the rust heap. I do want to find his '77 Coupe De Ville though.
That video was fantastic. Maybe when I find dads Caddy, I'll make one like that!

Really brought a tear to my eye this. My dad has never been into cars so I would do it for him. But I'd defiantly do it for my Grandad. He is feeling a bit down at the moment because he had to forfeit his licence as he is too ill to drive now. He has told be stories of his youth with his new family (my mum and aunt were probably about 4-5) coming up the A1 from Corby to Dinnington in his Austin A35 4 up and a load of coal in the boot for the head gasket to go. He pulls into the services and opens the bonnet to have a look. At that time a friendly trucker came over and started giving him a hand. They take the rocker cover off and the trucker tells my Grandad to turn it over. It fires into life splattering the truck driver in oil! He gets it back home, pulls the head off and finds its the head gasket that he (tries to? cant remember if it worked or not haha) fixes with tin foil. Really want to get more information out of him about the cars he used to own but he doesn't like talking about his past

Great vid.
I remember every car my dad had when I was growing up.
1966 Mk1 Ford Cortina Super Reliant Regal (don't ask!) Fiat 131 Supermirafiori Toyota Corolla E70 1982 Ford Mustang 1988 Ford Sierra 1.8
The Cortina was in horrendous condition, even when we had it back in the mid-80s. No door bottoms, wings made of filler, missing trim everywhere, ripped seats. How we kept it on the road for the best part of 7 years I don't know.
My favourite was the Fiat, my mum hated it because it "sounded like a boy racermobile"

XR 4X4 Sierra. D262 TBB. Occasionally check on the DVLA and for the last 2 or so years at least it has been un-licensed... Guess that ones gone then!
That video is great. What a beautiful motor too.

Very good, moving story. Wish I could get hold any of my dads early cars. Mexico's, Lotus cortina's, 1275GT mini's. It like looking in haynes museum brochure looking at his old photo albums. Got a photo of nearly all of them.
