As I needed 'something respectable' my cheap daily is a Renault Laguna 1.8 16v on a ' 53 plate - handles quite well, goes quite well and does just on 40mpg in mixed driving - until it goes pop I'm happy enough to keep it ..... however after it was left standing outside for less than a week although it started first turn of the key the idle was rising and falling either side of 850rpm.
Thinking a drive would 'clear it's throat' so to speak I took it out and even when up to temperature and with over half a tank of petrol once moving it won't idle and if you're coasting (say up to a red light) it just dies but will readily re start or even bump start with no ill effects.
So stationary the idles a little lumpy but on the move unless being driven in a gear it will just die.
I won't get a chance to look at it in daylight until the weekend - any clues as to where I should start ?
cheers
