Any experts on butt weld fittings (weld-els)?
I am looking at building a new manifold (one I have will not stop cracking...) and am thinking of using steel (not stainless) butt weld fittings.
There seems to be lots of choices out there but very little info.
Alloy steel, low temperature steel, carbon steel, nickel steel etc Anybody educate me on which will be most suitable.
The engine is normally aspirated but the exhaust gets very hot as it is mid engined with little airflow.
Or is stainless 321 the only way to go for high temps?
Also schedule refers to the wall thickness?
I really want to know what I am talking about before I go to my local stockist....... more chance of discount!
Thanks,
John
